What is WWE Doing WIth Drew McIntyre?

Another hugely underrated guy is Drew McIntyre!

I’m thinking to myself after filming my Tik Tok on the most underrated wrestlers in the WWE today. I didn’t include Drew on the list because I wanted to limit it to 5 (Well 7, counting the New Day together) and because I kind of forgot about the guy. He went from carrying the company on his broad, Scottish shoulders to mixing it up with Happy Corbin without a clear direction before Wrestlemania.

Drew McIntyre has proved it that he can hang in the main event. He’s finally lived up to the potential that the WWE saw in him 13 years ago. However, injuries and poor booking decisions have derailed that potential. Drew has the look, size and international appeal to be a main event wrestler, instead of toiling away in the midcard with Baron Corbin, Jinder Mahal and Sheamus.

At Wrestlemania, we’re getting Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns AGAIN! For both Titles too. WWE is lacking new, fresh main event talent. I think Drew fits that. Especially because he was at hottest when he wasn’t even in front of people. He gets the reactions that you could want to. I continue to be confused as to why WWE refuses to push new main event faces like Drew.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of fantasy booking and love to do it on my free time as a thought exercise. The potential of Drew McIntyre in the main event makes my fantasy booking mind salivate. I think the first step to rehabbing him is putting him in a long-term storyline with another wrestler placed similarly on the card. I think turning Shinsuke Nakamura heel and have him act like wrestling’s popstar would be a good idea. They’re both capable of having great matches and both can bring the intensity for a long term feud. At the end of the feud, the winner takes on Roman Reigns. Drew beats Roman and finally wins back the Title. Now, it’s not easy as that obviously. You do need to develop his character and also get rid of that ridiculous sword.

I think Drew should be the one to finally beat Roman Reigns. It seems like an insurmountable mountain to climb, but Drew is one of the only credible wrestlers who could do it. He’s got the size, power, accolades and charisma to finally take down Roman Reigns. Afterall, Brock’s not going to appear on TV every week. I’m hoping that WWE finally starts Drew properly again. They’ve done it before and it worked. Let’s see it happen.

Take care, and appreciate you reading. Make sure to check out the social channels! I’m curious as to who you would use better if you were the WWE. I’ve made my 8 choices clear. I’d love to see some discourse on this.

Cheers!

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
