The Start of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament Starts Tonight

WWE will start the tournament to find the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. The Titles have been vacant since May 20th, after Naomi and Sasha banks walked out of the company. Adam Pearce announced the tourney on Smackdown and it starts tonight on Raw. Will we see old teams like Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss reunite? Will we see NXT tag team call up like Toxic Attraction? I’m assuming we’ll get an odd couple pairing like maybe Carmella and Asuka. Regardless of who wins, the tournament should determine worthy champions.

That begs the question. What about the former Champs? Naomi and Sasha Banks.  There’s speculation that they could return and challenge the Champs of this tournament. It would create an intriguing storyline, the former Champs returning for a battle with the current Champs. One we’ve seen many times. Thinking back to Shawn and Razor, and of course Punk/Cena. It’ll be interesting to see if they do a slow burn to this or if they get impatient and rush to the match. That is to say, if Sasha Banks and Naomi are indeed back with the company.

To give everyone a quick refresher before the tournament. I went through all of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and listed them on video. I wonder if we’ll see any of the former Champs reclaim the gold.

Every WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

Let me know if you’ll be watching WWE Raw tonight. I may do a Twitter Space to get the community involved a bit. I also want to know who you think will ultimately end up winning this tournament. I’m intrigued by the potential of this tournament, especially with Triple H leading the ship.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
