World Title Run for Kevin Owens?

There are numerous reports that Kevin Owens is in line for a big push. I talked about it recently on the YouTube channel and TikTok. We could be seeing a big main event push for The Prizefighter in the near future with possibly a World Title Reign.

Kevin Owens hasn’t been World Champion since losing it to Goldberg in quick fashion at Fastlane in March, 2017. Since then he’s had 2 reigns with the United States Title, challenged for the World Titles on multiple occasions and even main scented Wrestlemania against Stone Cold Steve Austin this year. But in all that time, he’s never gotten to taste World Title gold. He’s made himself a household name and one that everyone outside of Texas can respect. He’s wrestled all over the world. He even, along with his best friend, Sami Zayn faced Daniel Bryan in Bryan’s return from career ending injury.

KO has done it all. Including winning the World Title once before, but two is always better than one. He has the capability and the ability to have multiple World Title Reigns. The report from Fightful Select is that the USA Network pitched to have an Interim Title in the wake of Roman Reigns becoming a part timer. In addition to the other part time occasional World Champion, Brock Lesnar. I don’t think an Interim Champion is the answer. I think WWE agrees with that as well because the only way it would make sense is an injury angle. That hurts the perception of Brock and Roman though. Therefore, the best option would be to split the Titles again. Kevin Owens would be an excellent fit as the man to bear the flag for Raw.

Owens is a team player and resigned a multi-year contract with WWE recently. He’s a guy with a name that all the boys and the fans respect. I think it’s time the Prizefighter gets another prize under his belt. Save Sami Zayn from Roman Reigns and take one the Titles off him.

The other option for World Champion on Raw is the wrestler who recently returned, Karrion Kross. Kross is back and is ready for a big push. I still think Owens is the best option, but maybe they could feud together. We’re tired of seeing every match done to a million times. That’s a fresh feud. Why not? Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
