Austin Theory Should NOT Cash In on NXT Title

Will Austin Theory cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the NXT Championship? Last night on NXT, Mr. Money in the Bank came out with his briefcase after the main event symposium/beat down.

This leads to fan speculation that he could be cashing in on whoever leaves Halloween Havoc as NXT Champion. It kind of pisses me off that I didn’t do a video on him cashing in yesterday. I thought about it earlier in the day! It makes sense because they’re trying to get main roster wrestlers there.

Going to be honest here, I’m not a fan of it. I don’t think it devalues the Money in the Bank briefcase, I mean Otis won that at one point. I think it devalues Austin Theory. Theory was billed as the “Next John Cena” at one point and having him win the NXT Title feels like a massive step back.

People will point to Charlotte winning the Royal Rumble then challenging Rhea Ripley not devaluing the Rumble. Which, it didn’t. There’s a difference between Charlotte and Theory though. A massive difference! Charlotte was an established main event star, not someone they were trying to push to the moon. It would have been like Charlotte being up on the main roster for a year, winning the Women’s title once and then going back to NXT to win that Title.

Theory has also lost a ton of momentum since Vince McMahon left. I think this further crushes his momentum. While I do agree that he isn’t ready to beat Reigns, the guy has plenty of time. He won it on July 2nd, which means he has over half a year to cash in.

Tons can change by that point. I’d continue to commit to Austin Theory. Stop his losing streak and honestly, give him the Cena push. WWE needs big stars and Theory has that potential.

Keep following along on Twitter for live updates. Let me know what you think. You could totally disagree with me and that’s cool!

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
