AEW Dynamite Preview - January 25th, 2023 - Mark Briscoe Making AEW Debut

AEW Dynamite is set to be an action-packed night of professional wrestling, with several exciting matches and segments planned for the show. Here are some of the highlights to look out for:

JungleHook vs. The Firm’s Ethan Page & Matt Hardy: JungleHook, the AEW debutante, will be facing off against The Firm's Ethan Page & Matt Hardy. With JungleHook's agility and Hardy's experience, this match is sure to be a high-energy, hard-hitting affair.

TNT Championship Match – Open Challenge: Darby Allin (c) vs. Buddy Matthews: Darby Allin will be defending his TNT Championship in an open challenge match against Buddy Matthews. Allin has been a dominant champion since winning the title in October, and he'll be looking to keep his momentum going against the challenger. Matthews is a formidable opponent and it will be interesting to see if he can dethrone the champion.

Toni Storm vs. Ruby Soho vs. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.: This triple threat match will see Toni Storm, Ruby Soho, and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. compete for a chance to move up the ranks in the AEW Women's division. Storm is a former champion and one of the top female wrestlers in the world, while Soho and Baker are both rising stars in the division. This match promises to be a showcase of some of the best female talent in the sport.

The Acclaimed & The Gunns’ “Family Therapy”: The Acclaimed and The Gunns will be getting together for a segment called "Family Therapy", which will be an interesting dynamic to see how these two teams interact and how they work together. The Acclaimed and The Gunns have had some issues in the past and this segment could be a way to resolve them or start new ones.

Mark Briscoe vs Jay Lethal in Mark Briscoe's AEW Debut following the passing of his brother Jay Briscoe: This match will be an emotional one as Mark Briscoe makes his AEW debut following the passing of his brother Jay Briscoe. It will be interesting to see how Mark Briscoe performs in the ring after such a tragic event and how he honors his brother's legacy. He will be facing Jay Lethal, who is one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the world and this match promises to be a classic. Mark Briscoe will shockingly make his debut for AEW following reports of Warner Media not allowing him to.

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs. Ricky Starks & Action Andretti: This tag team match features Chris Jericho and 3 wrestlers AEW is hoping will be the future of the company. It’ll be a big spot for Chris Jericho’s pet project, Action Andretti.

Brian Cage vs. Bryan Danielson: The main event of the night will be a match between Brian Cage and Bryan Danielson. Cage is one of the strongest and most dominant wrestlers in AEW and Danielson is a former WWE World Champion and one of the most accomplished wrestlers in the world. This match promises to be a classic and a showcase of some of the best wrestling in the world.

All in all, this is going to be an exciting night of wrestling with a lot of exciting matches and segments. I think it’s a must-watch episode with Mark Briscoe wrestling.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
