What Do You Think About AEW House Rules?

Last week, All Elite Wrestling announced their House Rules series. AEW is starting to run non-televised shows starting March 18th in Troy, Ohio. As they break into more markets, it makes sense for the company to start touring. I think it’s the right time to start doing house shows, since we’re no longer in lockdown. More and more people are dipping their toes back into going to events again. I, for instance started going to the theatre for movies again. Within the past 6 months, I’ve gone to movies with friends, an AEW show alone and a Bills game with my dad.

I think that more people will be attending events as we get back to the pre-Covid 19 life we used to live. An important thing about life is attending wrestling shows. I’d argue it’s the most important aspect.

Would you check out an AEW house show if it were to come to your area? I know that I would if it’s not too far away. They’re not advertising anybody that big outside of Jon Moxley which could deter some people. While Moxley is a bigger name, he’s just one man. Tony Khan should do whatever he can to get an MJF, Kenny Omega or Bryan Danielson on the show.

The House Rules series will allow them to run in smaller venues that they couldn’t run before because of TV production reasons. I can think of a few arenas around here that would be perfect for them. 1,500-5,000 seat arenas. There’s some theatres they could run too that would be perfect for a wrestling show.

A jam-packed show with a lively crowd of around 2,000 people with AEW’s roster could be a ton of fun. Which is why I think it’s worth it to check it out. You could see wrestlers interacting with the crowd more than they already do. Wrestling shows are fun and if these shows can accomplish that, AEW has a winner on their hands.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
