CM Punk Backstage at WWE Raw

CM Punk was backstage at tonight's Raw in his hometown of Chicago. PWInsider first reported and every wrestling reporter under the sun confirmed it. CM Punk currently works for All Elite Wrestling. He's rumoured to return soon. This could either put a massive monkey wrench into those plans, or could have Tony Khan seeing dollar signs. It's getting tons of publicity. Maybe ahead of a big United Center announcement. I hope Tony Khan and CM Punk are working together on this.

Punk was told to leave but not before he grabbed a word with Triple H. You may famously remember CM Punk met backstage with Vince McMahon and Triple H when he walked out of WWE the first time. CM Punk told Triple H that he doesn't need to wrestle him and left the company. Since then, CM Punk was on WWE Backstage, a program that aired on FS1. Other than that and the occasional razz from Stephanie McMahon, CM Punk hasn't been mentioned at all.

Usually when wrestlers leave, they're looked back fondly if they were a WWE Champion and a needly mover. As is the case with how WWE treats Bryan Danielson. CM Punk is no fan of WWE, and WWE would say the same. Which makes it so strange that CM Punk would be backstage tonight in Chicago. Add in the fact, that CM Punk may come back to AEW and you get why so many people are talking about this. I'm even getting a massive smile on my face while writing this up because of how absolutely ridiculous this is.

According to Fightful, CM Punk met with the Miz and cleared the air during their brief interaction. You can watch my video report on that here:

Let me know your thoughts on CM Punk being backstage in WWE. Just nuts. Hit me up here or on Twitter. Triple H is set to make a massive announcement tonight. Maybe it'll be a CM Punk announcement! There's no shot it is but could you imagine?

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
