AEW Is Under-Utilizing Keith Lee

In the ever-evolving landscape of professional wrestling, new talents emerge with immense potential to captivate audiences worldwide. One such individual is Keith Lee, a powerhouse performer who has unfortunately found himself under-utilized since his arrival in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Despite his undeniable charisma and in-ring prowess, Lee's journey in AEW has been marred by an over-drawn feud with Swerve Strickland, leaving fans craving for more. In this blog post, we'll delve into the reasons why Keith Lee deserves a cosmic push to the moon and how AEW can capitalize on his incredible potential.

Before his AEW venture, Keith Lee made a name for himself in other promotions, most notably in WWE's NXT brand. There, he showcased an exceptional combination of agility, power, and charisma that earned him a legion of fans. His memorable encounters with top-tier competitors like Adam Cole and Dominik Dijakovic cemented his status as a true force to be reckoned with. Keith Lee's path to AEW was met with excitement and anticipation, as fans eagerly anticipated his arrival on the grand stage.

Upon his debut in AEW, Keith Lee was thrust into a tag team with Swerve Strickland, a talented wrestler in his own right. Initially, this matchup seemed promising, with both men bringing their unique skill sets to the ring. However, as the weeks turned into months, it became evident that this tag team wasn’t working. That lead to a feud that’s gone on for way too long.

While a compelling rivalry can provide a platform for a wrestler to showcase their abilities, it is equally important to ensure that it doesn't stagnate and hinder their growth. Unfortunately, the prolonged focus on the Lee-Strickland feud has restricted Keith Lee's exposure to fresh storylines and diverse opponents, preventing him from reaching the heights that his talent warrants.

Capitalizing on Keith Lee's Potential

To maximize Keith Lee's potential and propel him to the forefront of AEW, the promotion must prioritize pushing him to the moon. Here are a few steps that AEW can take to make the most of his incredible abilities:

  1. Showcase His In-Ring Dominance: Keith Lee possesses an awe-inspiring combination of power and agility that can leave audiences in awe. AEW should allow him to demonstrate his full range of skills by engaging him in matches against a variety of opponents, both big and small. This would not only highlight his versatility but also create a sense of unpredictability that keeps fans invested.
  2. Develop Engaging Storylines: Keith Lee's charisma and natural connection with the audience are undeniable. AEW should focus on crafting compelling storylines that resonate with fans and allow them to invest emotionally in his journey. This could involve rivalries with established stars or captivating narratives that showcase Lee's personality and motivations.
  3. Emphasize His Unique Style: Keith Lee's athleticism and size make him stand out in the wrestling landscape. AEW should capitalize on his uniqueness by allowing him to innovate in the ring and incorporate his signature moves, such as the Spirit Bomb and the Limit Breaker, into his matches. This would not only enhance his character but also make his matches must-see events.
  4. Promote Keith Lee's Mic Skills: While his in-ring abilities are awe-inspiring, Keith Lee's microphone skills are equally impressive. AEW should provide him with ample opportunities to cut captivating promos, allowing his natural charisma to shine. This would help build a deeper connection between Lee and the audience, further elevating his star power.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
