CM Punk Announcement Could Happen Today

We could get a CM Punk return announcement today. We haven’t seen Punk since last September. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast is reporting a return announcement is expected today or in the coming days. This is huge considering Punk hasn't been seen since beating Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at All Out.

After Punk beat Moxley he went on the now-famous All Out press conference and ranted about professionalism in the locker rom. After the press conference, The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) reportedly stormed CM Punk’s locker room looking for answers on what they just saw. Punches were reportedly thrown and there was something with CM Punk’s dog Larry. I don’t think we’ve ever really gotten a straight answer on that. The incident has been dubbed “The Brawl Out” The incident lead to CM Punk vacating his just won World Championship. As well as The Elite vacating their recently won AEW World Trios Championships. It also lead to a round of suspensions for the parties involved.

The Elite would return and regain the Titles they had stripped. CM Punk on the other hand was injured during his match with Jon Moxley. So no matter what, CM Punk was vacating the Championship and wouldn’t be seen for an extended period. Since that time, Dave Meltzer is reporting that there hasn’t been any headway in the 4 resolving their issues.

This is leading to the rumoured AEW Collision Show. That reportedly will be the home of CM Punk since he hasn’t made amends with The Elite. There’s a rumoured show that should be an announced for The United Center in Chicago called “The Second Coming” which will feature CM Punk. Punk will be returning in front of his home-town crowd and it should be an incredible show.

I’m so happy we’re getting to see CM Punk again. I mean that he’s my favourite wrestler of all time. My favourite athlete, although Josh Allen could pass him if he gets me a Super Bowl and Punk does some crazy stuff.

What do you think about CM Punk coming back? Are you excited?

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
