Shawn Michaels Has Praise for Wes Lee

WWE Hall of Fame and NXT Lead of Creative, Shawn Michaels is giving high praise to WWE NXT North American Champion, Wes Lee. Wes Lee is the longest reigning North American Champion in NXT’s history and has faced a ton of adversity to get to this point.

Shawn was on the Sports Guys Talks Wrestling Show to promote NXT Great American Bash, which takes place on July 30th from Cedar Park, Texas. Shawn spoke about his time running NXT and how excited he is about the brand moving forward.

Shawn would go onto say this about Wes Lee.

"Wes Lee, to me, has just been unbelievable as North American champion. On a personal level, I just enjoy that young man so much. But everything that he's kind of overcome here in NXT over the last year and a half has just been phenomenal. He's been a great champion for us."

Wes Lee’s NXT Tag Team Champion partner was released from WWE last year due to out of the ring reasons. Fans were fearful that remaining Rascal in WWE would get lost in the shuffle. He did the opposite. He won the vacant Championship at last year’s NXT Halloween Havoc and has held it ever since.

What’s next for Wes Lee? Well he puts his Championship on the line against Dominik Mysterio next week on NXT. Win or lose, he’s winning over the hearts and minds of fans so that could propel him to a good career in WWE. The talent is there and he’s proven that he can make the best out of a bad situation.

Drop me a comment either here or on Twitter about Shawn’s comments on Wes Lee. Are you a fan of him?

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
