Rumours of Sami Callihan Going to WWE

Sami Callihan has confirmed that his Impact Wrestling contract expires at the end of this month. There’s rumours on social media that he could return to WWE. If you don’t recall, which I don’t blame you for not, he was in WWE from 2013-2015 as Solomon Crowe. Before signing with WWE, Callihan was an indie-stalwart. After being released by WWE, he went back to the independent scene before landing in both Lucha Underground and more notably, Impact Wrestling.

Callihan would become World Champion in Impact. He’d also have acclaimed feuds with Pentagon Jr and oddly enough, Tessa Blanchard. While in Impact, Callihan would also rejoin the Christ Brothers in Ohio Versus Everything. He had much more success in both Lucha Underground and Impact than in WWE NXT.

Now the rumour is that WWE could be interested in bringing back him back. He would be a good replacement for Joe Gacy when he goes to the main roster as a cryptic character. I would be very surprised if WWE brings him back though. Callihan has never been able to kick it into that final gear in my opinion. WWE needs wrestlers that have that ability. He’s very talented mind you but I think he’s better as a medium sized fish in a smaller pond. He’s always been in the same category as Eddie Edwards to me.

I also don’t think AEW would be a good fit for Callihan either. He’d get lost in the shuffle too fast. Staying in Impact or going to Billy Corgan’s NWA would be good options for him. I can see why Sami would want to get out of Impact. If he wants to bet on himself, it would be wise to try and spread his wings elsewhere.

Give me your thoughts on Sami Callihan leaving Impact. Do you think he’ll return to WWE and get an actual run this time? Comment down below or hit me up on Twitter.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
