What’s Going on with Jay White?

What's the deal with Jay White in AEW? This past week on Dynamite, he suffered a loss to Billy Gunn, adding to the perplexing trajectory of the "Switchblade."

It appears that ever since his defeat to an injured MJF at Full Gear last year, Jay White's star power has significantly dimmed. This is disappointing considering he was touted as one of the premier free agent signings last year. However, like many others on the AEW roster, he seems adrift in the sea of talent, lacking direction. Despite leading Bullet Club Gold, the faction's focus seems more on antics than on winning matches.

The ongoing feud with the comedic trio, The Acclaimed, doesn't quite hit the mark for me. What would be more intriguing? A rivalry with the formidable House of Black, particularly with Malakai Black. The clash between Jay White and Malakai Black presents an enticing prospect, especially given their respective affiliations in trios. Imagining a substantial feud between them culminating in a World Title challenge is tantalizing. Whatever Jay White is currently engaged in with The Acclaimed doesn't seem to capitalize on his potential.

What are your thoughts on Jay White's booking? Despite notable victories over Darby Allin, Jon Moxley, and Ricky Starks since joining AEW, he seems relegated below them in the pecking order. To be fair, with a few months of strong booking, AEW could easily elevate Jay White to Title contention status. So, while the journey has been underwhelming for Jay White thus far, there's still hope for a turnaround.

There's a plethora of potential matchups that have yet to be explored. Battles against the likes of Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage could be monumental. Here's hoping Jay White finds himself in those compelling matchups instead of squaring off against "Daddy Ass."

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
