Why The IInspiration Signing With AEW is a Home Run

The IInspiration (Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay), the former IIconics have signed on with All Elite Wrestling. They appeared at a house show for AEW in Australia on the weekend and Fightful Select is reporting that they’ve signed multi-year deals with the company. I think this is a home run signing for AEW and I’ll tell you why.

This past September, AEW announced the creation of the Women’s World Tag Team Championships. At this point, most companies have women’s tag team championships but I’ve noticed one glaring problem with every division. There’s simply not enough depth for the Titles to be a focal point on the show. What usually happens is there’s a few tag teams that are solid, and then a couple thrown together with established singles stars. The problem with throwing together teams with singles wrestlers is that it takes away from your singles division. A wrestler like Toni Storm is better suited in a situation where she can be the sole focus. Same with wrestlers like Rhea Ripley, Asuka, Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky. They should all be focused on singles competition.

AEW bringing in The Iinspiration gives them an established tag team, that’s held the Tag Team Championships in WWE and TNA respectively. Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay are one of the longest standing women’s tag teams going right now. You’re not taking anybody away from the rest of your roster. This can allow a wrestler like Toni Storm or Mina Shirakawa to chase the Women’s World Championship.

Arguably the biggest benefit of this signing is that it takes away a tag team from WWE and TNA. The Iinspiration are multiple time Knockouts Tag Team Champions and have been rumoured to go back to TNA. Tony took an established tag team away from an already thin division and is using them to bolster the division he just created. That’s smart business is you ask this guy.

What do you think The IInspiration will do in AEW? Will they become bigger than they were in WWE and TNA? I would love to hear your opinions in the comment section on here, or hit me up on social media.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How t...

If John Cena Beats Cody Rhodes he Technically Becomes an 18-Time World Champion

John Cena won the Elimination Chamber on Saturday night and secured an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania this April. What followed was a shocking heel turn that fans have wanted for years. That’s not what I’m talking about here. We’re talking about how John Cena will technically become an 18-time World Champion if he beats Cody Rhodes. That would put him two ahead of Ric Flair.  Ever since Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship. From that point on, WWE recognized Roman as having two Championship reigns. With the Universal Championship and with the WWE Championship. Same with Cody Rhodes when he beat Reigns for the Undisputed Championship at last year’s WresteMania. If you look at WWE’s website it shows two concurrent reigns for Cody.  If Cena beats Cody it’s always possible that WWE in the future recognizes this as one World Title reign instead of two. There’s a few of Flair’s reign...

Bobby Lashley Issues Warning to Jon Moxley

Bobby Lashley debuted in All Elite Wrestling on October 30th last year, rejoining his former WWE stablemates MVP and Shelton Benjamin, forming The Hurt Syndicate. Lashley and The Hurt Syndicate are one of the hottest acts in AEW right now with Lashley and Benjamin winning the World Tag Team Titles last month. It’s inevitable that Bobby Lashley will get a World Championship shot at some point. He’s very over right now and a legit main event talent.  Lashley gave a warning to AEW World Champion Jon Moxley when speaking to the Sporting Tribune . Lashley said it’s only a matter of time till they face off but he’s focused on his tag team right now. Lashley said that when Jon Moxley sees him in the locker room, he stays clear of him.  Despite being cheered like a babyface, Bobby Lashley is a heel and Jon Moxley is also a heel so I don’t see them facing off soon. But I like the idea of a Moxley/Lashley match whether it’s for the Title or not. Saying that, I’d also be a fan of Bo...
