Saturday Night’s Main Event Looks Underwhelming

Saturday Night's Main Event is this Saturday taking place from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Is this the weakest card since the legendary show returned a year and a half ago? As of right now, three matches have been  announced with the biggest matchup being the Intercontinental Title tilt between Penta and Ethan Page. This doesn't scream main event of a special event to me. No disrespect to those wrestlers, because I do think they're both very talented. Does this sell a show though? Even with the additions on Monday, I don’t think so.

The return show featured Cody Rhodes defending the WWE Undisputed Championship against Kevin Owens in the main event. It was supported by an undercard featuring a World Heavyweight Title triple threat match, the finals of the Women's Intercontinental Championship tournament and a Women's World Championship match. We saw Goldberg and John Cena's last match on Saturday Night's Main Event last year. We've also seen many World Championship matches or matches with more important stakes than the Intercontinental Championship.

Every SNME outside of the most recent one, has featured at least one World Championship match. Which featured a number one contender match with two former WrestleMania main eventers, a former World Heavyweight Champion and one of the future faces of the company. You could make the argument that Penta and Ethan Page may main event WrestleMania in the future, I'd disagree with you but you could make the point.

This show doesn't have the juice for me. They have added Paige and Brie Bella, two probable Hall of Famers defending the Women’s Tag Team Titles against The Irresistible Forces Nia Jax and Lash Legend. I don't mean to just dog on Penta and Ethan Page, because The Vision's Logan Paul and Austin Theory defending the World Tag Team Championships against The Street Profits doesn't exactly entice me to watch. Nor does Rhea Ripley,  Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss facing Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab.

They also added Becky Lynch against Sol Ruca in a present vs future match but Becky Lynch has “just another guy syndrome” or man in her case. Once again, no disrespect to any of these wrestlers.

Saturday Night's Main Event deserves a World Championship match. Whether it's the Women's or the Men's. Keep in mind, I'm the guy who won't watch Star Wars projects if they don't have lightsabers for me. World Championships like lightsabers carry weight.

There's five matches on the card right now, which is more than the last Saturday Night’s Main Event that we got.

Give me your thoughts in the comment section, or hit me up on social media. Do you think this is a strong card or do you agree that WWE should have built it better? I kind of forgot it was happening, I think everyone's full steam ahead to Clash in Italy.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How t...

If John Cena Beats Cody Rhodes he Technically Becomes an 18-Time World Champion

John Cena won the Elimination Chamber on Saturday night and secured an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania this April. What followed was a shocking heel turn that fans have wanted for years. That’s not what I’m talking about here. We’re talking about how John Cena will technically become an 18-time World Champion if he beats Cody Rhodes. That would put him two ahead of Ric Flair.  Ever since Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship. From that point on, WWE recognized Roman as having two Championship reigns. With the Universal Championship and with the WWE Championship. Same with Cody Rhodes when he beat Reigns for the Undisputed Championship at last year’s WresteMania. If you look at WWE’s website it shows two concurrent reigns for Cody.  If Cena beats Cody it’s always possible that WWE in the future recognizes this as one World Title reign instead of two. There’s a few of Flair’s reign...

Bobby Lashley Issues Warning to Jon Moxley

Bobby Lashley debuted in All Elite Wrestling on October 30th last year, rejoining his former WWE stablemates MVP and Shelton Benjamin, forming The Hurt Syndicate. Lashley and The Hurt Syndicate are one of the hottest acts in AEW right now with Lashley and Benjamin winning the World Tag Team Titles last month. It’s inevitable that Bobby Lashley will get a World Championship shot at some point. He’s very over right now and a legit main event talent.  Lashley gave a warning to AEW World Champion Jon Moxley when speaking to the Sporting Tribune . Lashley said it’s only a matter of time till they face off but he’s focused on his tag team right now. Lashley said that when Jon Moxley sees him in the locker room, he stays clear of him.  Despite being cheered like a babyface, Bobby Lashley is a heel and Jon Moxley is also a heel so I don’t see them facing off soon. But I like the idea of a Moxley/Lashley match whether it’s for the Title or not. Saying that, I’d also be a fan of Bo...
