We have information on the buy rate for AEW All Out 2022. The Wrestling Observer and Dave Meltzer are reporting that the buys for this year’s All Out are down compared to the previous year’s.
This year’s show drew: 135,000-142,000 buys.
Last year’s show drew: 205,000 buys.
It makes sense that the ratings are down seeing as the buys were up so massively last year because of CM Punk’s return to the ring after 7 years. I think that plays more of a factor for the lower buy-rate than WWE running 2 shows that weekend. The company has also lost considerable steam since last year. We aren’t anticipating the debut of Bryan Danielson or Adam Cole again. The build to CM Punk and Jon Moxley outside of the Ace Steel promo was lacklustre.
They should have waited till November to have Punk return. Instead we got a short build to the main event and multiple other put together matches. AEW needs a big storyline to get their momentum back and get the numbers on PPV that they desire. AEW has capable storytellers who are excellent in the ring as well. A feud between MJF and Bryan Danielson for the World Title that goes through a couple of PPVs could mean big bucks and great TV for AEW.
