Tony Khan Teases Big Surprises - What Could They Be?

Tony Khan appeared on Busted Open and told fans we should expect to see some big surprises this week. Both on Dynamite and Rampage. He said he has a trick up his sleeve. Could one his tricks involve the All Out Joker, MJF?

What kind of surprises could he be talking about? Debuts? Returns? Could we see CM Punk return?! What about Bray Wyatt? Is he going to be debut? Probably not to those! But what could the surprises be?

First off, I think we’re going to see Sting turn heel and feud with Darby before putting him over and letting Darby do main event stuff. It’s been coming to a head for a while and they botched the last mentor/protege storyline they had with Christian Cage and Jungle Boy. It would give a big program to Darby Allin to sink his creative little teeth into.

Secondly, I think we could see Jeff Hardy come back. I’m in the camp that thinks Jeff should take longer time off and really focus on his family. But at the end of the day, I’m not Jeff Hardy. I don’t know what it’s like to jump off a ladder because I’m too afraid to do that. Jeff’s a different cat. We’ve known that for years. Reports are that he’s going to come back to AEW soon. Jeff’s been out since going to rehab but reports are that he could be finishing that soon. Again, I would hold off but it would be a big moment to see him team again with his floundering brother.

Thirdly, I could see MJF cashing in his Poker Chip against the winner of the main event for the vacant AEW World Championship. The Devil won the opportunity at All Out in the Casino Ladder match. He has the potential to carry this company and has proved it on his national media appearances this week. It’s up to Tony if he wants to pull the trigger on the young rifle.

Finally, I could see another debut coming tonight in the form of Tegan Nox. Nox would work perfectly with the women’s division and the former NXT standout would add a bit of legitimacy to the AEW women’s division. I understand there’s a lot of ex-WWE talents coming in but they need to establish their division first. Nox would certainly help with the mid card and she has potential for more.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How t...

If John Cena Beats Cody Rhodes he Technically Becomes an 18-Time World Champion

John Cena won the Elimination Chamber on Saturday night and secured an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania this April. What followed was a shocking heel turn that fans have wanted for years. That’s not what I’m talking about here. We’re talking about how John Cena will technically become an 18-time World Champion if he beats Cody Rhodes. That would put him two ahead of Ric Flair.  Ever since Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship. From that point on, WWE recognized Roman as having two Championship reigns. With the Universal Championship and with the WWE Championship. Same with Cody Rhodes when he beat Reigns for the Undisputed Championship at last year’s WresteMania. If you look at WWE’s website it shows two concurrent reigns for Cody.  If Cena beats Cody it’s always possible that WWE in the future recognizes this as one World Title reign instead of two. There’s a few of Flair’s reign...

Bobby Lashley Issues Warning to Jon Moxley

Bobby Lashley debuted in All Elite Wrestling on October 30th last year, rejoining his former WWE stablemates MVP and Shelton Benjamin, forming The Hurt Syndicate. Lashley and The Hurt Syndicate are one of the hottest acts in AEW right now with Lashley and Benjamin winning the World Tag Team Titles last month. It’s inevitable that Bobby Lashley will get a World Championship shot at some point. He’s very over right now and a legit main event talent.  Lashley gave a warning to AEW World Champion Jon Moxley when speaking to the Sporting Tribune . Lashley said it’s only a matter of time till they face off but he’s focused on his tag team right now. Lashley said that when Jon Moxley sees him in the locker room, he stays clear of him.  Despite being cheered like a babyface, Bobby Lashley is a heel and Jon Moxley is also a heel so I don’t see them facing off soon. But I like the idea of a Moxley/Lashley match whether it’s for the Title or not. Saying that, I’d also be a fan of Bo...
