The talks of CM Punk's contract being bought out have seemingly halted for now. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there's been no talk of releasing him or using him. Punk is still out with an injury that he suffered in his last match, against Jon Moxley at All Out. We haven't seen Punk since he went off the cuff after and started talking about the locker room.
“Right now, from the Punk side, the belief is that Tony Khan has put Punk on ice for now, as there are no ideas to use him that have been presented but no talk at all of late to release him either.” - Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
I'll make it no secret that I'm a huge CM Punk fan. He's my favourite athlete/entertainer of all time. I think everything the guy touches turns to gold and the AEW Dynamite ratings reflected that. CM Punk needs to come back to this company. He needs to finish out his final run for the fans differently. But more importantly, AEW needs CM Punk more than ever.
When it comes time to renew their contracts with Warner Media, if Warner wants to keep them around I think Punk is a pivotal piece to the puzzle. CM Punk is a proven draw and networks will recognize that. I do think cooler heads ultimately prevail and we see CM Punk come back.
