We know why Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy started teaming together. Back in 2018, Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy started teaming up as The Deleters of Worlds. This was before Bray became “The Fiend”. Jeff Hardy was out with injury and Matt was floating around the mid-card before feuding with Bray Wyatt. The feud would lead them to them forming their tag team. On Road Dogg’s Oh You Didn’t Know Podcast he shed some light on the formation of the team.
"We put him [Matt] with Bray because we thought together they could really be this cool entity, but I will say, no, we didn’t know what to do with them. I’ll take the heat, and I always will for a failed opportunity... an opportunity I missed as a writer or a creative guy on the show. We let them be their creative selves and their creative selves, and this is horrible. I don’t mean to say it like this, but I don’t think they knew at that time what they were trying to do. I don’t think they knew, and together, it made a who knew stew."
So there you have it, WWE didn’t know what to do with them so they slapped them together in a tag team. While some random pairings are successful like Cesaro and Sheamus, this wasn’t one of them. Despite that, they did have a run with the Raw Tag Team Titles.
Bray Wyatt would eventually go onto become “The Fiend” and Matt Hardy would leave WWE to go to AEW. Without Jeff out due to a variety of reasons, Matt has floated in the mid-card over the past several years. While Bray had World Title reigns before leaving and returning to WWE.
