We have an update on Gable Steveson’s progress in WWE. The Olympic Gold winner signed with WWE and people hoped he would be “The Next Kurt Angle”. We haven’t seen much from Gable since his appearance at Wrestlemania last year. There were reports that he wasn’t really getting it.
The wrestler partly responsible for training him though, Ken Anderson (FKA Mr. Kennedy) believes he’ll get there:
“People will often say that Kurt took to the business like nobody they’ve ever seen before, that he got it immediately, and you got not only the athletic side of things, but you got the showmanship, the storytelling, and the character stuff. I feel like Gable is on that path. He can do great things,”
It sounds like Gable has a fundamental understanding of the business, though he needs to work on it. Last year, Steveson retired from amateur wrestling to focus on his pro wrestling career. However, this year he unretired and was impressive at last month’s US Open.
As for what’s next for Gable Steveson? On June 10th, he’ll be participating in Final X. A big wrestling competition. Hopefully after this, he’ll be able to completely focus on wrestling and hone his fundamental skills further.
