Which Match Is The Sleeper at Wrestlemania XL?

We all know about the big matches this weekend at Wrestlemania, the main event worthy matches. Roman Reigns defending the  WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes, Roman and his cousin The Rock VS Cody and Seth Rollins, Seth Rollins defending the World Heavyweight Title against Drew McIntyre, “Mami” Rhea Ripley defending the Women’s World Championship against Becky Lynch and of course Bayley taking on Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship. But what’s the sleeper match? What’s a match that nobody’s talking about, that you think will deliver and steal the show.

The first match that jumps out to me is AJ Styles against the white hot LA Knight. Both wrestlers have worked extremely hard to get to this stage. Both are former TNA World Champions. Both have overachieved in WWE. I think AJ Styles can get the best out of LA Knight like he does with so many of his opponents. When you combo that with how popular and charismatic LA Knight is, I think we have a potential match of the night candidate.

The recently announced Philadelphia Street Fight between The Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Akam and Rezar) and Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits could be a banger. It all depends on how creative they can be with their spots and how much time they get. This should be a knock out, drag down brawl.

Let’s talk the triple threat for the United States Championship between Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and defending Champion Logan Paul. These three, including Paul have shown the ability to put on tremendous matches. You have one of the greatest wrestlers of all time in Randy Orton, one of the biggest stars of his generation in Kevin Owens and one of the most athletic wrestlers today in Logan Paul. I expect to see a huge spot from Logan Paul during this match.

Finally, Sami Zayn vs Gunther for Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship will tear down the house down. I’m so sure of this. This better get the time it deserves. Gunther and his record-setting reign deserves that. Sami Zayn is a wrestler who has paid more than his fair share of dues and is a former Wrestlemania main eventer in his own right. I’m really looking forward to this match. It’s two of my favourite wrestlers today going at it and I’m sure it’ll deliver.

Which match are you most looking forward to it? One of these non main event “sleeper” matches or one of the main events? It could be hard to beat out Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes. Same with The Rock wrestling again. This is going to be an awesome show and I’m really looking forward to it.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How they bungled this storyline, I’m not ent

The State of Professional Wrestling - 11-29-21

I have a lot of thoughts on the state of professional wrestling in 2021. I think it’s great that AEW is around now and that they’re presenting a great product. I think WWE has the potential not be really boring but I think the consensus is that most of the time it’s just a really boring show. I cannot tell you the last time I sat through a 3 hour Raw. Oh wait, yes I can. September, 9th, 2013 and that’s only because I was at the damn show.       WWE has a problem with stagnation. The product continually feels the same and I think there’s an obvious reason for that. WWE is too scripted. I think there’s a noticeable difference in the presentation between WWE and AEW. AEW feels like a legitimate sports show and WWE feels like broadway theatre without the music. I don’t think it’s a problem with the talent. When you go top-down, guys like Roman Reigns, Big E, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, Jeff Hardy and Kevin Owens are all main event players.

Several AEW Releases Reported

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported on Monday that announcer Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J, and Parker Boudreaux have been cut from the roster. PWInsider additionally reported that The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry have also been released.   We have word on several All Elite Wrestling releases. On Monday, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported Dasha Kuret, Stu Grayson, Jose the Assistant, Jora Johl, Gravity, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux have been released.  In addition to Sean’s announcements, PWInsider reported the release of The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate) and Anthony Henry. PWInsider also notes that AEW is "evaluating their talent roster and making cuts to benefit both the company and the talents."  This is the second time Stu Grayson has been released from the company. Maybe the third time in the future will be the charm.  I wonder what happens to Parker Boudreaux. He has the look of a future World Heavyweight Cha
