Who Will be Danhausen’s Tag Team Partner at Backlash?

WWE Backlash takes place live tonight from the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida and the big question going into the show is who will Danhausen’s mystery partner be. Danhausen and a mystery partner are taking on The Miz and Kit Wilson.

Danhausen sought The Miz’s approval and it appeared he got it. However The Miz and Kit Wilson revealed it was all fugazi and they beat down Danhausen. Nick Aldis scheduled the match for tonight and told Danhausen to get a partner. Almost every name in the book has been thrown out to team with Danhausen. There’s three avenues they could go down in my opinion.

The first is CM Punk. The former World Heavyweight Champion isn’t scheduled for Backlash, and is available. Punk and Danhausen are good friends outside of the ring, and you’d have to imagine that Punk pushed for him to get hired. Danhausen’s already provided enough of a return on investment to justify the hiring. Sprinkling a little of CM Punk dust on him would just help propel him past the likes of Santino Marella and Hornswoggle in the comedy character tier list.

The next option is a celebrity. Whether that be Pat McAfee returning so quick, or like Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez have speculated, Jelly Roll. Perhaps an influencer like Kai Cenat or IShowSpeed. I would be vehemently opposed to this. I mean, it’s a comedy skit so I shouldn’t care too much however Jelly Roll would be disappointing to me. I understand that he likes the product but I don’t see the appeal in him. Maybe I’m out of touch but who’s tuning in for Jelly Roll?

The third option would be literally any other wrestler in the world. Whether that be a call up from NXT, a name we haven’t seen in a while or just someone else that doesn’t have anything to do. Maybe The Boogeyman, I could see that as a fit with Danhausen. Two similar kind of characters, although Boogey was creepier.

All in all, give me CM Punk or give me The Boogeyman. I’m tired of the celebrity involvement. I know it’s WWE and they love the attention from the outside but cater to the hardcores and give me Boogeyman. I think if they were going to get Jelly Roll for the match they would have announced it to try and attract an outside audience.

Book This Episode 1: The Summer of Punk Rebooked Prelude

Let’s go back to 2011, specifically June of 2011. CM Punk’s contract is expiring soon and he’s getting ready to have the biggest run of his career. On June 27th, 2011 CM Punk would cut a promo that would have the wrestling world buzzing for years to come. In his promo, Punk said that his contract expired next month and that he, the Number One Contender, would be leaving  WWE with the WWE Championship. He’d also go onto take shots at not only his opponent the following month, John Cena but other icons in the history of WWE. Whether employed by the company or not. He’d also tease defending his WWE Championship in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Essentially he’d be a travelling World Champion, ala the territory days. Well, CM Punk did win the WWE Championship the next month from John Cena at Money in the Bank. However, what would happen after would disappoint wrestling fans more than anything else that’s happened in years.       How t...

If John Cena Beats Cody Rhodes he Technically Becomes an 18-Time World Champion

John Cena won the Elimination Chamber on Saturday night and secured an Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania this April. What followed was a shocking heel turn that fans have wanted for years. That’s not what I’m talking about here. We’re talking about how John Cena will technically become an 18-time World Champion if he beats Cody Rhodes. That would put him two ahead of Ric Flair.  Ever since Roman Reigns beat Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship. From that point on, WWE recognized Roman as having two Championship reigns. With the Universal Championship and with the WWE Championship. Same with Cody Rhodes when he beat Reigns for the Undisputed Championship at last year’s WresteMania. If you look at WWE’s website it shows two concurrent reigns for Cody.  If Cena beats Cody it’s always possible that WWE in the future recognizes this as one World Title reign instead of two. There’s a few of Flair’s reign...

Bobby Lashley Issues Warning to Jon Moxley

Bobby Lashley debuted in All Elite Wrestling on October 30th last year, rejoining his former WWE stablemates MVP and Shelton Benjamin, forming The Hurt Syndicate. Lashley and The Hurt Syndicate are one of the hottest acts in AEW right now with Lashley and Benjamin winning the World Tag Team Titles last month. It’s inevitable that Bobby Lashley will get a World Championship shot at some point. He’s very over right now and a legit main event talent.  Lashley gave a warning to AEW World Champion Jon Moxley when speaking to the Sporting Tribune . Lashley said it’s only a matter of time till they face off but he’s focused on his tag team right now. Lashley said that when Jon Moxley sees him in the locker room, he stays clear of him.  Despite being cheered like a babyface, Bobby Lashley is a heel and Jon Moxley is also a heel so I don’t see them facing off soon. But I like the idea of a Moxley/Lashley match whether it’s for the Title or not. Saying that, I’d also be a fan of Bo...
